Head to the Dry Cleaner this Spring for Three Painless Tasks

As they say, spring has sprung.  With the changing of the seasons, people often set out to tackle a to-do list.  This is especially true around spring.  We feel a new energy as this season ushers in St. Patrick’s Day, Easter, Spring Break, longer days, and overall feeling of hope and wellbeing.

This spring, you should add three tasks to your to-do list.

1. Rebuild Your Spring Wardrobe
   The weather is changing. Sunnier days and spring fashion trends mean you can put away those winter looks until the temperature dips again.  Sure, there are a few looks that carry you into the next season (hello, white baggy sweaters and navy-blue pants), but others will look just plain ridiculous (goodbye snow boots and ugly holiday sweaters).  Building your spring wardrobe doesn’t have to be a challenge.  Just think what feels right for the spring season.  Before you head to the mall, revisit last year’s looks.
2. Once you choose the clothes you want to use again, it’s time for an inspection of each item. Anything with stains and tears should be set aside.  It’s not headed to the dump, though.  Instead, you can end it to the dry cleaner. If you don’t know a preferred dry cleaner, consider looking on the internet for “best dry cleaning near me.” The dry cleaner can repair clothes by removing stains and patching holes.  They often offer dress alterations.  Some even offer same-day alterations.  That’s very helpful.
3. Look in the fashion magazines to see what the new looks are for 2020. Of course, those who love fashion know that every season is a little different.  Maybe you have a pants, jackets, or shirts you love.  The fabric is still in style, but the fit is all wrong.  That is a great time to call your local dry cleaner, too.  Many dry cleaners offer services that help with this problem.  They can hem pants, hem jackets, and do taper waist alterations.

Of course, if the clothes truly do not work for the upcoming season, don’t just throw them away.  Earth day is coming, too. Be mindful of the environment.  Instead, you could donate the clothes, gift them to a friend or family member, or repurpose them into something else.  If the clothes just don’t fit like they used to, consider saving them for later or taking them to the dry cleaner for alterations.

When it comes to spring fashion, there is no need to spend a fortune to welcome in the season.  Remember the pro-environment adage:  reuse, reduce, recycle.  For those who want to fight the devastation that our planet is facing due to over consumption, a trip to the dry cleaner may make more sense than a trip to the mall.
